What is Fascia? Fascia is a connective tissue in the body that encompassed every muscle, nerve, artery, bone and organ in the body. It is a web-like continuous matrix that connects every part of the body to every other part of the body. When it gets restricted, it binds together with other layers of fascia forming adhesions of bound up fascia. These are the "knots" or trigger points that feel so good to have massaged. Healthy fascia is loose and hydrated, free moving and flexible, but becomes brittle, dehydrated, tight and painful when restricted, resulting in:
*bad posture *inefficient movement *pain in low back/shoulders/neck *TMJD/migraines/headaches *stress
Fascia responds to manual therapy and massage techniques that push the blood with nutrients and water into the tissues causing a softening or melting effect resulting in more relaxed, less restricted fascia. This is Healthy Fascia!
